The month of May is here and it’s National Physical Fitness and Sports Month! Lets get physical grab your workout buddy and get active. Throughout the month of May I will be sharing different activities, workout tips, fun sports that can be done to keep forging ahead with a healthy lifestyle. These tips and information are for everyone on all levels of physical capability.
Benefits of physical activity:
Children and adolescents – Physical activity can improve muscular fitness, bone health, and heart health.Adults – Physical activity can lower the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer.Older adults – Physical activity can lower the risk of falls and improve cognitive functioning (like learning and judgment skills).
Lets use this month to raise awareness about the many benefits of physical activity, so spread the word and lets get moving by:
Encouraging family members to make small changes. ex; take walks after dinner or go for a bike ride. Get teachers and administrators involved to motivate exercise as a part of students daily regimen. Peer group encouragement find youth that excel in sports and encourage them to get their peers involved in some type of physical activity.
Theres many different ways to incorporate some type of physical activity into your daily routine so stay tuned for the tips throughout the month of May.
