A Clean and Clear Face: Part 1

Before getting into any details, let me ask you this; Do you have a skincare regime you follow regularly?

If your answer Is “NO", please keep reading. If you answered, “ YES", still keep reading. You never know, you may learn something new! Besides, who doesn’t want to look youthful and have healthy skin?

This post will focus on facial skincare. With cooler months approaching, it is important to have a skincare regime in place. In addition, cooler temperatures can cause skin to become more dry.

Skin is the largest organ and requires daily preventive measures to keep it healthy. If you do not have a skincare regime, please do not fret! You are never too young or too old to begin a daily skin care routine. Men with solid and energized faces get noticed!

Most men think skin care is only necessary when there is a specific issue, such as acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation or other typical skin care concerns. Although certain men’s skin care products may help with isolated issues, a daily skin care routine will help prevent them from occurring. Therefore, a daily skin care routine will aid in keeping skin firm, bright, and blemish free.

The first step towards starting an effective skincare regime, is to identify and understand your skin type. There are five basic skin types: Dry, Oily, Combination, Normal and Sensitive. Knowledge of your skin type will help you learn how to take care of your skin and select skin care products most beneficial for your skin type. Here is an example; If your skin is prone to acne, you should look for cleansers and moisturizers that are oil free. This will help keep your pores from clogging, and eventually prevent a possible pimple and or breakout.

Let’s briefly take a look at the five basic skin types. This should assist you in determining your individual skin type.

Dry – Your skin is flaky, itchy or roughOily – Your skin has oily patches and a natural shine to it. You often get acne or build up.Combination – Your skin is dry in some areas and oily in others.Normal – Your skin stays oil free most of the day and doesn’t get irritated or dry easily. Acne is rarely an issue.Sensitive – Your skin may sting or burn after product use.

Using the descriptions above, you should be able to determine your skin type. Now we can put this knowledge to work. You should make it a point to use men’s skin care products that match your skin type. Most product packaging will indicate the skin type it’s best used for.

Now that your skin type is known, you can create a daily routine to keep your skin in tip top shape! Stay tuned for my next post, which will break down the components of a simple skin care routine with a few extras.
